SSG Landers’ outfield depth, no worries.
SSG will play a midweek three-game series against the Samsung Lions at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 30th. Kirk McCarty will start the first day of the three-game series. McCarty will be looking for his fifth win of the season.
The Samsung starter is Albert Suarez, who has just one win (3 losses), but he did throw a six-inning no-hitter against Doosan on the 24th. He’s a tough nut to crack. Here are some players to keep an eye on.
SSG has veteran outfielders born in 1982, all of whom are in the second team. Kim Kang-min and Choo Shin-soo are out with injuries. In addition, captain Han Yoo-seom is still not hitting well. Choi Ji-hoon and foreign batsman Guillermo Heredia are available, but Kim Won-hyung is also concerned about their fitness.스포츠토토
Ha Jae-hoon, who joined the team on the 24th, seems to have eased Kim’s worries. “My outfield defence is not perfect yet,” he said, but he has quick feet and strong shoulders, so it won’t take him long to adapt.
Above all, he feels good hitting. After surgery and rehabilitation, he gritted his teeth and prepared to return. After missing the opening day of the second camp in Okinawa, Japan, with a left shoulder injury while defending the outfield in the first practice game, he came back healthy and well prepared.
After being called up to the first team on the 24th and pinch-hitting against LG on the 25th, Ha started against Doosan on the 26th and went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored. He had a home run and a double. Kim was surprised.
“In his first at-bat, he hit a double off the closer, and in his first at-bat against Doosan, he hit a single, and his catch was in front of the outfield fence. In my last at-bat, I hit a home run. I don’t know what I was doing,” he laughed.
SSG’s batting cycle seemed to be slipping in the last days of May due to injuries, but they had a solid support system. Moreover, the one-for-one trade with Doosan was a stroke of genius.
On the 25th, SSG traded pitcher Kim Jung-woo for outfielder Kang Jin-sung. Kang can play the corner outfield and defend first base. He also has the ability to hit. The club said, “We expect him to be highly versatile in the offence and defence.”
Kang Jin-sung made his presence felt on the 26th with a two-run single against Doosan. Kim said, “He has good overall hitting ability and a strong style. He’s not afraid to strike out. I’ve seen a lot of good things from him,” Kim said, adding, “With Jae-hoon and Jin-sung joining the team, I think they will help us a lot in the offence.”
