Ssireum, a national sport, heats up the Lunar New Year holidays. There is interest in whether the men’s MG Saemaul Geumgo will create a sensation for the new team.

The ‘Withers Pharmaceutical 2023 New Year’s Day Business Ssireum Competition’ will be held at the Yeongam Gymnasium in Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do from the 19th to the 24th. It is a tournament hosted by the Korea Ssireum Association and supervised by the Yeongam-gun Sports Association and Yeongam-gun Ssireum Association. About 270 players compete in the men’s Taebaek, Geumgang, Halla, and Baekdu class, and the women’s plum, chrysanthemum, and Mugunghwa levels, and women’s team events.

In particular, for men, the MG Saemaeul Geumgo Ssireum Team, a new team for the first time in seven years, will participate. MG Saemaul Vault continued its existence this year after the dissolution of Hyundai Elephant Ssireum Team, the last corporate team operated by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in 2016.

It’s a new team, but it has formidable power. MG Saemaul Geumgo recruited Jang Seong-wu (26), who won the 8th Baekdu Market and the 2nd Cheonha Market, and Oh Chang-rok (29), a veteran who won the 12th Halla Market. This is the first official participation of MG Saemaul Geumgo, led by coach Jang Yun-ho and coach Kim Jong-jin. That’s why I’m preparing for the competition with enthusiasm. 스포츠토토

In particular, MG Saemaul Geumgo signboard players such as Jang Seong-woo and Oh Chang-rok will participate in the competition held in Yeongam-gun, the hometown of their former team. At the inauguration ceremony on the 10th, they pledged, “It will be uncomfortable to be in the Yeongam-gun Folk Ssireum Team for a long time, but since it is a player-to-player meeting, we will overcome it and do our best in the arena.”

With the addition of MG Saemaul Geumgo, a total of 19 team players compete in this tournament. The tournament will start with the women’s individual and team preliminary rounds on the 19th, followed by the Taebaek class (under 80kg) preliminary rounds on the 20th, and the women’s individual and team finals.

On the 21st Taebaek Jangsa Final, on the 22nd Geumgang Jangsa (90kg or less) Final, on the 23rd Halla Jangsa (105kg or less) Final, and on the 24th Baekdu Jangsa (140kg or less) Final. The matches on the 20th and 21st will be broadcast live on KBSN, and the matches on the 22nd and 24th will be broadcast live on KBS 1TV. You can watch all matches in real time on the YouTube channel ‘Satba TV’.
