Sophomore Wanju Noh (F, 193cm) did the dirty work for Sungkyunkwan University, helping the team move up to fifth place.

Sungkyunkwan University’s Noh Wan-ju recorded six points, nine rebounds and two assists in the team’s 70-60 win over Kyung Hee University in the 2023 KUSF University Basketball U-League at Suseong Hall on Sungkyunkwan University’s Natural Science Campus on 8 August.스포츠토토

After receiving the win as a birthday present, Noh was all smiles. Speaking to us after the game, Noh said, “We came into the game with the mindset that we were on a cliffhanger, and today (8th) is my birthday, so my brothers said they would make me a birthday present of a win. It’s nice to win as a team,” he said after the game.

Sungkyunkwan University, which was tied with Kyung Hee University with five wins and six losses before the game, was in a position to either move up to fifth place or go on a losing streak depending on the outcome. “I saw the odds of victory as 5-5, but I focused on raising the team atmosphere that had sunk during the workout the day before,” said Noh Wan-ju, explaining the situation before the game. “With (Kim) Yoon-sung out, the height was lowered, so me, (Won) Jun-seok, and (Lee) In-joo focused on rebounding while his brother boxed out.

Noh Wan-ju, who played 27 minutes and 20 seconds in the game, added his role as an active rebounder and did the dirty work, saying, “When I play alone, I play the five, and when Resident plays with his brother, he goes to the four and shoots confidently.”

The second-year player also has his own routine to help him relax. “This year, I’ve been singing in my head to help me relax. Lately, I’ve been singing IVE’s ‘I AM’ a lot (laughs).”

He is determined to carry this momentum into the Myeongji Daejeon (12th). “I won today and my mood is up, but I’m not going to get too excited, I’m going to enjoy it in moderation and prepare for the next match,” he said.
