Shintaro Fujinami (Oakland Athletics) self-destructed again.
Fujinami gave up three runs on two hits and two walks while throwing 40 pitches over two innings starting in the seventh inning against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, USA, on April 22 (local time). His ERA rose further to 12.69.
Once again, Fujinami struggled with his velocity.메이저놀이터
With an eight-run deficit and the loss on the line, Fujinami got out of the seventh inning with two strikeouts.
In the eighth, he struck out the leadoff hitter, J.P. Crawford, on a 145-mile-per-hour splitter.
However, he started to falter when he gave up a walk to Ty France. He then threw a hard-hit ball to Julio Rodriguez. Jared Kelenic followed with a single to right to load the bases. After the next batter, Eugenio Suarez, singled up the middle to score two runs, Fujinami caught a ground ball hit by Carl Lalei and threw to second base to force out the runner at first. Kelenic, who was on third, then crossed home plate to score another run.
Fujinami’s string of poor performances prompted a flurry of criticism on Oakland’s official Twitter account.
“Oh my!” lamented a local TV broadcaster.
It will be interesting to see how long the A’s keep Fujinami.
