Medvedev, who performed brilliantly on the hard court by winning the tour for three weeks in a row at the beginning of the season, repeatedly revealed that he hated the clay court, but he also struggled from the beginning of the day.

Medvedev lost 4 games in a row from the opening game and lost the first set 4-6. In the second set, when he changed his mind, he showed off his innate tenacious defense without regret and took 5 games in a row to make a set-all.  

After a close exchange of breaks in the final set, Medvedev defeated Shevchenko in 2 hours and 42 minutes, succeeding in a heavenly break in the 11th game. With the victory, Medvedev reached his 300th tour victory. In an on-court interview after the game, “He played well. Especially if he plays like he showed in this tournament, the rankings will go up. We’ve practiced together before and we knew he would play very well. Today ( I’m so happy to be able to beat him somehow.”

Regarding the content of the match afterward, Medvedev frankly stated, “It’s painful to fight on the clay court, which I hate the most.” “Playing on clay courts is hard for whatever reason. It takes a lot of time to get used to everything that happens on the court.”
