Frank McAnerney has criticised Manchester United’s speculation about signing Neymar, 31, from Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2017. At the time, PSG pulled off a shock signing for a staggering €222 million, making it the most expensive transfer in football history.
However, Neymar has failed to live up to expectations. He’s been sidelined by frequent injuries and his performances have been up and down. In response, PSG fans have been harshly critical of Neymar, and the conflict has only grown.
Neymar”s contract with PSG runs until June 2025. He still has a few years left on his contract, but there have been reports that he could leave the club this season due to his poor form. Manchester United have been mentioned as a possible new destination.먹튀검증
According to French publication L’Equipe, “Neymar has been linked with a number of English Premier League (EPL) clubs. In recent days, United have been the closest to discussing a move.” United, who want to compete for the title next season, are keen to bolster their attacking line with the signing of Neymar.
McAvoy, who previously played for West Ham, has argued against United’s pursuit of Neymar, citing Cristiano Ronaldo as an example. Speaking to the UK’s Football Insider on Monday (28 June), McAnerney stressed that “United could be in serious trouble”.
“United didn’t have a locker room atmosphere when Ronaldo was there. Neymar, like Ronaldo, is hungry to win. Neymar will only want players who follow him and that’s something that must never happen again at United,” he said, pointing to over-competitiveness.
