Kiwoom Heroes pitcher Eric Yokishi (34) pitched 5 scoreless innings.

Yokishi started in the 2023 KBO League demonstration game against Doosan held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 27th, striking out 4 in 5 innings and striking out 4 runs.

After the game, Yokishi said, “Today, we practiced by throwing pitches evenly. He got into the zone and I think he pitched well overall. He said, “The restraint hasn’t fully come up yet, but I expect it to come up naturally when the season starts.” 안전놀이터

On that day, Yokishi threw a total of 75 pitches, with a two-seam restraint of up to 143 km. He threw curves and cutters evenly, and in particular threw 14 cutters, all of which were put in the strike zone, showing good condition.

He smiled, saying, “Russell put up a good defense to prevent hits, but given the nature of the team, including me, there are many grounder type pitchers, shortstop Addison Russell and second baseman Kim Hye-seong, the ‘Keystone Combo’, would be of great help.”

Shortstop Russell, who returned to Kiwoom this season, threw his body at Doosan Daehan Kim’s batted ball in the top of the 5th inning and erased the runner from second base.

Yokishi, who pitched in 30 games last year and recorded 10 wins (8 losses) with an ERA of 2.57, moved to Kiwoom in 2019 and starts his fifth season in the KBO League.

“His fifth season is coming up,” Yokishi said. As always, he is preparing for the season positively, and since he aims to win this year, he will prepare well from the beginning so that he can be ranked high.”

Yokishi is likely to start in the match against Hanwha, which will be held at Gocheok Dome on the 2nd.
